My Review
A romantasy from an author who also writes small town romance stories. I am a big fan of her romance and love romantasy! So it was a no brainer I wanted to read Ring of Fire, the first book in a brand new series.
This is one hell of a book! We are introduced to Scarlen, sent to the notorious Horstal prison with the worst offenders. She has to survive Hunger Game style trials which don’t stop until death! It is while here she meets Bear Vyer, a man who cannot discover exactly who she is. The problem with this is that Bear can’t stay away from her, and the chemistry she feels is undeniable. How do you stay away from an enemy when everything pulls you to them?
Great atmospheric worldbuilding and well created characters had me so I only put this book down when I needed to sleep! The tropes within this story just kept me addicted to it. I loved the spicy moments and the strength of their chemistry made this a fabulous read!
Scarlen should hate Bear but oh, my! We see enough as the story unfolds. I thought the contrast of the dark and oppressive prison with their ‘flame of passion’, just added an extra edge.
Fast paced, and packed with everything that ticks all my boxes with this genre, it is a memorable book! And then there is the ending! Amazing and I am looking forward to more Scarlen in the future!
