Murray Bailey – Singapore 52

Thanks to Murray Bailey for the gifted ebook. This is my honest review

Chinese New Year 1952

British ex-military investigator, Ash Carter finds himself in the middle of a political game between the army, the police and a Triad-style gang. Someone intends to attack Singapore and Carter is tasked to stop it. But Carter is more intent on solving the mystery of who and why someone killed his friend.

A mystery-thriller for fans who like a strong protagonist and a twist in the tale.
Ideal for fans of Lee Child, Baldacci, Scott Blade etc who like the twist of a Harlen Coben novel

My Review

Ash Carter is back! Sort of anyway. Singapore 53 is the first book in the Ash Carter series, which has been updated and rereleased. I was introduced to this series later, so I already knew I would love this book.

Ash has just arrived in Singapore after leaving Israel rather swiftly. Murray Bailey always makes me feel like I am wherever he is describing. He is skilled in bringing a sense of place to a story. This, combined with the authentic feeling of which time period we are in, whisks me right to Ash’s side!

I was just captivated by Singapore 52. Carter arrives in Singapore to help a friend, but a much larger problem looms. There is an attack planned, but there is no information on where, when or even who! Carter gets the order to make sure it doesn’t happen. He has pressure from every corner, but his priority is trying to find out who killed his friend.

Jam-packed with intrigue, action and plenty of tension along the way. I was so invested that I took my Kindle everywhere with me and read at every opportunity! I can always guarantee Murray Bailey’s books will entertain, no matter which series you pick up. I must say that Ash Carter is one of my favourite characters, and I love catching up with his latest exploits.
