Rebecca Raisin – Summer at the Santorini Bookshop

Here I am! I am bringing my review for the blog tour of Summer at the Santorini Bookshop. Many thanks to Rachel’s Random Resources and HQ for my gifted ebook to write my honest review.

A Greek island holiday. A fake-dating pact. A chance at true love?
After losing her job as a book scout, hopeless romantic Evie needs a fresh start. So when she hears that her eccentric grandmother has just taken on a small bookshop in Santorini, Evie jumps at the chance to visit her.
But life on the island is not as idyllic as it first seems. Gran has a tempestuous relationship with her
landlord and he’s threatening to take the bookshop away from her. So when Gran asks Evie to fake a romance with her landlord’s Greek God of a grandson, Georgios, to keep the family on side, she reluctantly agrees.
As the sun sets on Evie’s Greek holiday, can she save the bookshop – and fake date her way to love?

My Review

This is the most amazing book! The front cover is stunning. It made me want to pack my case and get on a plane right there and then! Written by a brand new author to me, I wanted to read this as soon as I read the blurb and saw the cover.

Evie is summoned to look after her grandmother, who lives in Santorini. She is on her 9th marriage to a younger man, and she is sorting his bookshop and running it as he is working away. As money begins to run low so her gran hatches a plan for Evie to date the landlord’s grandson. Evie isn’t struck with the idea, but her gran is her world, and Georgios isn’t bad looking either.

As the pages flew by, I was so wrapped up with Evie and the beautiful Greek Island of Santorini. It made me feel like I was in this sun soaked place, not in rainy Oldham! The characters, particularly Evie’s Gran, Floretta, are excellently created and bring so much to the book.

Summer at the Santorini Bookshop is a proper escapist read. There is drama, romance, and fun along the way. I really need to read The Little Venice Bookshop after this! I don’t know how this author has bypassed me until now. I intend to keep her firmly on my to go list for authors to read!
