Valerie Keogh – The House Keeper

I’m always so happy to have Valerie Keogh on the blog, and here she is again! It’s my spot for my review for The House Keeper today. Thanks to Rachel’s Random Resources and Boldwood Books for allowing me to join in and for gifting the Ebook to write my truthful review.

An unwelcome guest?

Still in shock after the tragic death of husband Richie, Cassie Macreddin hopes that her new home, historic Hindon House, is the place where she can heal her pain and hide her secrets.

But Hindon House has secrets of its own…

Cassie soon realises that not everyone is pleased at her arrival and that someone is actively trying to make her leave Hindon House….but who? And why?

As events escalate, Cassie must fight to save her home…and maybe even her life.

Don’t miss the brand new thriller by Valerie Keogh! Perfect for fans of Sue Watson, Shalini Boland and K.L. Slater.

Valerie Keogh is an author who writes the most superb books. I have read the majority (if not all) of her work. I am now at the point that I dont need to check the blurb or even see the cover. If it has Valerie’s name on it, I really want to read it!

The House Keeper is an immensely addictive psychological thriller. I found myself almost inhaling this one! Even the title isn’t as straightforward as you would think.

Valerie has created an atmospheric and twisty story. Cassie, the main character, a widow whose husband died in a car crash, wants a fresh start in the country. She buys an old dilapidated house to make into a BnB. Strange things start happening, and Cassie starts to think someone wants her out.

I found the fact that I suspected everyone and knew nothing, such an enjoyable read. Everyone and everything held secrets! I loved it! It’s as simple as that. The characters were, as always, so well created that it was easy to get invested and obsessed with wanting to get all the answers.

The creepy factor was high, too! I was extremely pleased I had started to read The House Keeper during the day. By the time I had got to the last quarter it was going dark and I had to turn al the lights on! It crept me out quite a lot. Valerie Keogh has done it yet again! She knows how to tick every single box for me to have a belter of a read.
