Lynda La Plante – Hidden Killers ( Tennison Book 2)

I’m so pleased to bring my review for Hidden Killers by Lynda La Plante. I am part of #TeamTennison on behalf of Tracy Fenton of Compulsulve Readers for allowing me to tag along.

When WPC Jane Tennison is promoted to the role of Detective Constable in London’s Bow Street CID, she is immediately conflicted. While her more experienced colleagues move on swiftly from one criminal case to another, Jane is often left doubting their methods and findings.  As she becomes inextricably involved in a multiple rape case, Jane must put her life at risk in her search for answers.

Will she toe the line, or endanger her position by seeking the truth?

A number one bestselling author, Lynda La Plante was inaugurated into the Crime Writing Hall of Fame in 2009 and received, at the 2014 Harrogate Crime Festival, the Theakstons award for Outstanding Contribution to Crime Fiction. The Tennison series has been made into a new prime-time ITV series called Prime Suspect 1973.

Hidden Killers is the second Jane Tennison book and I was raring to carry on reading about WPC Tennison’s journey through her career.

Lynda La Plante has created a character in Jane Tennison, who I feel I know. This series of her early years just makes me love this woman more! She is now stationed at Bow Street, and after being a decoy in order to discover the perpetrator of attacks on prostitutes in which she herself was attacked, she finds herself promoted to CID. Jane, being Jane, she questions the death of a mother who has drowned in the bath. Everyone else has moved on to the next case, but Jane begins to dig, with her own belief that there is something to find.

This series about the younger years of Jane Tennison perfectly captured the woman we all know from the Prime Suspect series. The struggle of being a woman in a predominantly male world shows even in her older years. I fully understand why she is this way, when she has fought through the 1970s policing system that we see the evidence of now.

This series just gets stronger by the book. Hidden Killers just highlights Jane’s tenacity for the truth and her determination to find that truth
Another fabulous book in the Tennison series!
