E.G Radcliff – The Hidden King / The Wild Court @The_WriteReads @EgRadcliff @WriteReadsTours #BookTour #SharonBTB

Today I am super excited to say I am on the double blog tour for The Hidden King and The Wild Court by E.G Radcliff. A massive thanks to Dave at The Write Reads and E.G Radcliff for allowing me to be a part of the tour.

THE HIDDEN KING

Hidden truths. Hidden power. Hidden destiny.
On the shores of a rusty sea, in the streets of a starving city, a young man named Áed scraps to build a life for himself and the makeshift family he loves. Scarred by a trauma he cannot remember, and haunted by the brutal damage it left behind, he has no idea of the courage his future will demand.

When tragedy strikes, a desperate Áed risks a treacherous, life-changing journey in his last chance to save the only family he has left – but an ancient legacy smoldering within him is about to turn deadly. Neither he – nor a kingdom – will ever be the same.

THE WILD COURT

What perils await on the other side of the veil?

In the seventh year of Áed’s reign, night descends on the autumn festival. But a time of revelry turns into one of fiery destruction—as fae pour across the veil and the Gut becomes a battlefield in an otherworldly war.

Determined to protect his kingdom and the people he loves, Áed finds himself catapulted into a realm as unfamiliar as it is dangerous, where magic is king and wild courts vie for supremacy.

While the faerie Queen’s missing consort holds the key to life and death, tenuous alliances raise questions about Áed’s connection to the mysterious Bone court. His survival hinges on cunning as much as illusion.

On a mission like no other, only one thing is certain: no one will survive unscathed.

The Hidden King is the first book in The Coming Of Áed series. The Wild Court is the third book. A dark young adult fantasy series that had everything I need in a fantasy story. The series Celtic Fae inspired, so I was eager to read these books. The covers are both striking and drew me in immediately.

Áed, is the main character, along with Ninian, and their adopted ward, Ronan. All he wants to is make a good life for them all. Then a tragedy occurs which means they have to leave their home and travel to a different city. They meet Boudicca there and Áed finds his life on a completely different path than the one he expected.

Both books follow Áed’s journey, and is a series I would recommend to anyone who adores a fantasy that fully immerses the reader from the first page. E.G Radcliff’s world building is superb. It makes this a series of books that are so easy to read. I always love being transported out of my own life and these books did exactly that.

An enthralling tale that captivated me so much in Áeds world and those around him. The vividness of the detail made me feel like I was with them all throughout. The characters are all beautifully described, each with their own unique voices. I was rooting for Áed after a few pages. I have to say I felt for them all along the way, the bad things that happened really got to me. I love when this happens because it means I have connected with the characters, that always makes for an excellent read.

E.G Radcliff has a great sense of timing with her writing. I found that when I was hoping Áed would have at least one thing go right it did! Loved that too. I must say that the growth of the characters is clear to see over both books as well and that was great to see as well.

A series full to the brim with rich, diverse characters and a world building that will make you want to stay. These are definitely books which may make you need a tissue at times! So highly recommended!
