Downtime – Mia Ryder|@SpellBoundBks|@ZooloosBT |@RyderMiaAuthor #Downtime #ZooLoosBookTours #SpellBoundIWD2

I am back again today with another Mia Ryder and SpellBound Books. Thanks to ZooLoo’s Book Tours and SpellBound Books for the gifted copy of the book for today’s review

Fresh from his ordeals in the HQ re-education centre and then with Raquel the serial killer, Nick is taking some well-earned time off.

Of course, Nick doesn’t know how to relax, so most of his downtime involves scouting for his next lover. Cue gorgeous young twink Rafe …

Rafe is failing his way through life. First as a writer, now as a waiter: he comes to Nick’s attention when he gets fired from the bistro Nick happens to be in.

It’s clear Rafe has zero confidence. He’s been living a cycle of self-denial, meaning he’s long overdue a good time.

Nick decides he has the goods to rock Rafe’s world AND shake up his worldview a little.

Little does Nick know that Rafe has a few surprises himself …

DOWNTIME is explicit M/M erotica.

PLEASE NOTE: This story is for adults only and contains homoerotic content, as well as depictions of flogging, exhibitionism, religious iconography, mild horror as well as commentary on life choices, mental health and self-care.

The fourth book in the Sex.Die.Repeat series and my second review for the books in the series today. Downtime has one hell of a cover! This is the cover I keep looking twice at. This series is definitely an 18+ one. Mia Ryder certainly knows how to heat a room up in about 3 minutes.

This novella has Nick having time off so visiting Earth for a ‘break’. Nick really doesn’t do ‘breaks’. He sees Rafe and decides he want him. He sorts out a meet between them and we see Rafe a shy man who thinks he wouldn’t know what do do if given a chance. Well, there is a chance and it becomes, to say the least, a very ‘interesting’ encounter!

The difference between Rafe before Nick and Rafe during his ‘meeting’ with Nick is night and day. We see him confidently own his sexuality and feelings, the true opposite of how he was before. Nick may have wanted to give empowerment but Rafe is one who took it instead. It was good to see something different for Nick in this series.

Again under thirty pages and a bitesize story. One more novella to go and it’s over. I do think I am going to miss these small stories that have added a little sizzle to my reading life.

I find the stories leave me wanting more that I can’t have. I do hope Mia Ryder considers a full length novel full of these interesting and intriguing characters with their colourful and sexy lives.
