Emma Webster is innocent of the murder of a tabloid journalist.
Emma Webster is a liar.
#Reputation: The story you tell about yourself. And the lies others choose to believe…

This is my first introduction to Sarah Vaughans writing. I have heard a lot of positive things about her but never got around to reading anything by her. I am sat wondering just why I haven’t read her books. This novel is superb! A compelling, absorbing, and an edge of your seat read.
A novel that explores what it is like to be a woman in the world of politics today. The very fact that a reputation takes years to build on but a matter of days to be torn apart. Sarah Vaughan explores the darker side to politics and serious issues that are so relevant to today’s world. The way social media can cause so much harm, with trolling and the bullying.
Emma Webster is an MP who is everything that is needed in todays world. Diligent, honest, and someone who cares about her constituents’ lives. She is an attractive woman who is fighting her corner in a man’s world. As events spiral out of her control with threats coming from every angle, we see her slowly descend from a powerful woman to a woman filled with fear almost constantly.
Along with Emma’s issues, we see Flora, her daughter, pushed into a corner by being cyber bullied by people who she thought friends, pulling a stupid teenage prank. Something that would normally be something and nothing is blown out of proportion due to her mother being an MP and in the eye of the public.
This is not just a courtroom drama; Sarah Vaughan has expertly interwoven a psychological thriller into this clever multi -layered novel. The characters are superb throughout. So utterly human, they are well-rounded and realistic.

Sarah Vaughan has put on show for all to see the prejudices against women in life, not just everyday life but also in work, even in a position of power/authority.
I was so invested in Emma’s and Flora’s lives throughout the book, and I felt I was beside them. This is such a brilliant thriller that highlights how cruel human beings can be and how important good friends are, too. I would recommend Sarah Vaughan’s Reputation to anyone who enjoys and immersive, relevant thriller
