K.M. Harding – Broken

‘Broken’ by K.M. Harding is a romantic suspense debut novel. I have read quite a few debuts this year and am finding them such great books. I was just hoping this would keep up my expected standards. Well, it did!

Dani has survived more than most of us could imagine. In the aftermath of her survival, she is attempting to fit back into life. Hiding behind her wit and her love of music we see her struggle. It’s almost like she is a shadow. She meets Damien and everything changes. He is everything she has ever needed. He stands by her through everything and allows her to be a stronger woman like she wishes to be. I really connected with Dani, I understood her heart and everything about her. Damien is a character who is loving and caring. He is just what she needs, she thinks…But when past and present collide, Dani’s fears are pushed to the limit, and with the future hanging in the balance, is love enough to save Dani?

This is a slow burner of a story, told from Dani’s point of view so we get to know the two great characters and I must say they are easy to get invested in. Both believable and definitely relatable, I was really rooting for Dani all the way. A romance with plenty of twists and turns that create the mystery and suspense throughout. The twists aren’t obvious either, they happen at truly unexpected moments.

A story from a debut author that had me from the first page. She has created characters who are 3 dimensional and real. I look forward to her next book.
