Pamela Murray – Dead To Me

‘Dead To Me’ by Pamela Murray is the beginning of a police procedural series featuring Detectives Burton and Fielding. I always love a new series and I think this book is a good introduction to this duo.

Pamela Murray

Four friends get together to have a night out. One of them, Caroline, has arranged for them to visit an astrologer that evening. The only issue is the only married woman out of the quartet really doesn’t like this type of thing…and Caroline knows this. As they make their way home Maria dies. The women make the assumption it was her heart condition that has caused her death. However, the pathologist decides differently and it becomes a murder case. We see Burton and Fielding assigned the case and as the bodies begin to pile up, it seems clear that the common denominator is the astrologist. Can these two detectives find out what is going on and who the killer is before more people die?

I love a well-written story and when it belongs to a new series too, I am in my element. A book with a smoothly flowing story that I was hooked just from the cover. I found that if I had to put the kindle down I was right back in the story as soon as I started reading again. The characters are well developed and help to keep me intrigued throughout.

Pamela Murray has brought a story with enough deception, murder, lies and suspicion that kept me guessing all the way through.

A cracking start to a new series and one I shall be keeping my eye on for the future books to be released.

Thanks to Anne Cater of Random Things Tours and Dark Edge Press for the copy of the book.
