James Essinger – Rollercoaster

‘Rollercoaster’ by James Essinger is a book written in the 70’s that excellently translates to the 21st century. It is as the title suggests a rollercoaster of a ride. A highly original and funny book that had me from the first page. The beginning of the book is an explanation from the author himself who tells us about the adventure of writing the book in the first place. I got a Monty Python type of vibe as I was reading (luckily I love them!).

James Essinger

An easy book to read the time just flew by. The short chapters lead you immediately into wanting more constantly. A hilariously funny, crazy story that just has that something!

The story follows Rod Coaster a lovable bloke who is starting a journey in which he falls head over heels for Silja, they then join forces with Detective Picking Fox-Poetus to help stop a terrorist attack in a high-class German hotel, but can they do it? We can only wait and see!

An absolutely bonkers book but, boy did I enjoy it! The author has made some comedy gold with his duo of Fox-Poetus and another character, Vixen. I was chuckling away at the antics.

A plot that is deceptively clever with the use of comedy, intrigue, murder and suspense. The base of it is a man attempting to find love but that’s after we stop laughing.

James Essinger could easily be overlooked with this crazy, funny book but really he has skillfully woven a story like no other.

Thanks to Random Things Tours and James Essinger for my copy of this fabulous book.
