‘The Beijing Conspiracy’ by Shamini Flint is an action thriller that certainly brings everything it promises in the synopsis. I love discovering new authors and Shamini Flint is one of them.

We meet Jack Ford an ex CIA and ex-Delta Force operative. He has put that life well behind him until he is pulled back to Beijing by a letter claiming he has a daughter. He asks his old friend, Peter, to do some investigating about Xia and her daughter just to be prepared for his trip. He meets up with Peter in Singapore and gains a bit more information than he expected. He is given a secret memo that has the power to shatter the East-West relationships. He finds himself caught in a deadly battle between China and America with the life of his daughter at stake. He realises he has to chose his country or his daughter, what will he do?
This story is so well written and Shamini Flint certainly has the knack of grabbing your attention and holding it too. She has created a cast of characters that you can believe in as they are fully fleshed out and well rounded. I think the plot is very clever and well thought out. The political intrigue combined with the action that had my heart racing at times makes for a really enjoyable action thriller that I sped through in no time! I will be on the lookout for more of Shamini Flints work definitely!
