Linda Fawke – A Prescription For Madness

‘A Prescription For Madness’ by Linda Fawke is the sequel to A Taste Of His Own Medicine which I have read and reviewed previously. I was looking forward to picking back up with Kate and finding out what she is getting up to these days after the shenanigans in the first book.

It seems Kate is still in the same predicament, married but living their own separate lives. Becky, her best friend covers for her when Kate needs to ‘get away’ for a night or two. Becky is getting sick of being the one who saves her and has her problems but, with unreliable Kate as her friend, she can’t exactly rely on her to help. Kate starts to feel ill and finds out she is pregnant! In her fifties! Well, this wasn’t in her planning at all. She is suddenly in a situation that is asking questions she doesn’t know how to answer and doesn’t have much time to find the said answers.

Well! Kate hasn’t improved much from her first outing really. A woman in her fifties and still as much drama and secrets going on. Just as we think that at this age Kate should be sorted by now along comes a baby, one that rips the rug from under Kate’s crazy style of life. Just the complications of her age with pregnancy is dramatic enough and Linda Fawke deals with these issues head-on but sensitively too.

This book is a darker read than the first book and it is better because the characters are more developed. I sped through this just as I did the first one and really waiting to see if Linda Fawke brings Kate back for another instalment!

Thanks to Rachel’s Random Resources and Linda Fawke for the copy of the book for my review on this blitz day today.
