Alex Kane – The Angels

‘The Angels’ by Alex Kane is her new standalone gangland thriller and, boy, it’s so good!

Set in Glasgow, Scotland we are taken into the heart of a very exclusive Gentleman’s Club known as Angel Silk. Three young women take us there, Amber, Lizzie and Jade. This is a strip joint like any other, tacky and cheap looking with plenty of clients to cater for. The owners are Marcus and Tommy McAdam and are part of a criminal gang that is famous in Glasgow for illegal carrying on. Drug and human sex trafficking. As all good gangsters, they love violence and don’t even blink at murder if needed.

Marcus is the best businessman and he knows he wants the best product for the market. The business is women and he goes all out to find the best and gets them, by charming his way to them. Promises the earth then gets them where he wants them and bang! Good old abusive Marcus rears his ugly head! This is what the three girls are enslaved too. A horrific life, started as lap dancers then it moves to prostitution and the final nail, if they try to escape, is a forced Heroin addiction, so they will never leave.
These three girls are all trapped, by no fault of their own and my heart went out to all three. They have no choice they have to work the club and take whatever pittance Marcus hands out. I was sitting on my hands at one point trying to stop myself throw
ing my kindle at imaginary Marcus and praying the girls escaped from his evil grasp.

A dark, gritty, and chilling story that I am lucky never to have seen in my life but one that is happening all around us today, way too often. A riveting book set in a dangerous place with plenty of action and twists galore to keep me glued to the book. A brilliant gangland story that I could read again in a heartbeat.
