Ian Patrick – How The Wired Weep

‘How The Wired Weep’ by Ian Patrick is a police procedural that highlights with gritty realism the worlds of the police officer and their informants. Informants are mostly unknown for the work they do apart from by the officer that handles them, otherwise, they are usually up to their necks in criminal activities.

This book is a work of fiction but is interweaved with real knowledge which creates a thrilling and fascinating read.

This book brings the tensions that are prevalent in an informant/officer related to the fore and we see the real issues that informants experience along with their families. These are things no one ever really considers when thinking of Informers, so I was engrossed in this book as soon as I picked it up. I also enjoyed seeing what drives police officers to do the job, when all we can see is paperwork, stupid callouts and drugs.

A story that showed me both sides of the fence, instead of just the one side as usual. Making this a pretty unusual book in my eyes. I am looking forward to more books by Ian Patrick now, seeing as this was my introduction to his writing…and I loved it!

Thanks to Damp Pebbles Blog Tours and Ian Patrick for the book so I could write this review today.
