‘In SatNav We Trust’ by Jack Barrow is a travelogue through the counties of England. Jack narrates this in his own often humorous and always very engaging individual way. It is not really my usual type of read, but the blurb alone brought a smile to my face ad I thought I would try it. Happy I did now!

The book is written in a diary form and every chapter tells us the mileage he has done with his truck (that is the vehicles name also). His SatNav is called Kathy and he travels England county by historic county day by day over six weeks. He discovers the joys of Camping and Touring in England as he goes I find this personally hilarious, I used to have a touring caravan so I can really empathise with him). He finds the weather a challenge, strange people, and the searches for charging points for the numerous gadgets were a great source of entertainment for me.
There was the historical side of his journey, which, being a history geek, I revelled in learning little bits and pieces about all the different places he travelled to. I also enjoyed his meandering about his own beliefs and all the different ways people find meanings in their lives. Along the way, I really enjoyed his visit to Blackpool and surrounding areas, because that is my local “seaside”!

Altogether a great read being funny and, for me, educational at the same time. Thank you to Random Things Tours and Jack for the copy of this marvellous book to take part in the Blog Tour today.
