Eva Mozes Kor – The Twins Of Auschwitz

‘The Twins Of Auschwitz’ by Eva Mozes Kor is the heartbreaking true account of the author’s life during the Second World War when her family and she were taken to Auschwitz.

Eva Mozes Kor

Only Eva and her twin Miriam were not killed. Instead, they had to suffer at the hands of Josef Mengele, who used twins for horrific experiments. I have always been aware of the experimenting Mengele did on twins back during that terrible time, but reading it, written by an actual survivor, hit me like a ton of bricks! Eva was the strongest twin and helped Miriam through. They were two that survived out of the millions that didn’t from that terrifying and evil time.

Well, what can be said about such an inspirational strong child who grew into the woman who wanted to show the world exactly what happened to the twin children in Auschwitz? This book should be on the schools’ curriculum for every child to discover the real world war two and it’s victims, in my opinion. It is actually aimed at the younger readers as well as adults and Eva doesn’t go into detail about the experiments, but she does graphically explain their living conditions and how the people there were treated. I do know she is some kind of special person, I can’t think of many people who would be willing to forgive the Angel Of Death, never mind a twin who was subjected to his evilness, but Eva has done this and moved forward.

It was an emotional read and brutal reality in it’s telling but on the flip side Eva was determined she would survive along with Miriam and she did everything in her power to make sure it happened. The story even covers her life after Mengele and how she and Miriam went on to found CANDLES (Children of Auschwitz Nazi Deadly Lab Experiment Survivors) organisation and the CANDLES Holocaust Museum. She is the most inspirational and brave woman in my opinion.

A big thank you to Random Things Tours and the publisher for my copy of this outstanding book in order to be a part of this very special blog tour today.
