Karen Rose – Say No More

‘Say No More’ by Karen Rose is the latest book in the Sacramento series. An absolutely fantastic addition to Karen Rose’s already bursting book list. I have always enjoyed Karen’s work, although I tend to dip in and out and hardly ever read in order. This series is no different, I have not read the first book as yet. It can be read as a standalone which I did but I was already searching for the first book before I finished Say No More.

Karen Rose

In this book, Mercy, a young woman who has survived a cult and everything we associate with cult life, goes to make amends to her brother Gideon for misconceptions that Mercy had towards him for abandoning her and their mother in the cult. We also see her brothers best friend, Rafe, who has developed feelings for Mercy as she has for him. This book sees Mercy facing the realities of Gideon’s life and his difficulties with realising you cannot outrun your past, it always catches up.

Mercy realises she will never outrun her past and this time, she will face it all head-on, no matter what. The longer this goes on the more people are hurt or killed. Gideon and Rafe are both police, so surely she will be safe? Well as we find out, some people will stop at nothing to get what they want!

As you may have gathered the story does include a lot of triggers for some, the storyline centres around the cult, brainwashing, rape, abuse and murder. These are integral to the book and we are shown what is at the heart of a cult…money! As always!
An absolutely steam train paced book! Crammed with action, murder, suspense, betrayal, romance and a lot more! We see characters grow before our eyes and all the while Karen Rose is like a spider in a web, weaving everything together to a satisfying conclusion.

A massive thanks to Damp Pebbles Blog Tours and the publisher for sending me this excellent book for the blog tour today.
