Keith Wright – Fair Means Or Foul

Fair Means Or Foul by Keith Wright is a thriller that has Detective Inspector Stark at its centre. It is set in the 1980s in and around Nottingham. I have never read any of Keiths work previously but I instantly loved this book! The 1980’s where my formative young teenage years and the scenarios I was met with took me back immediately, right down to the Jam Buttie police cars and the joyriders turning into TWOC-ers. I was definitely addicted to reading this book.

Keith Wright

He has created a great character in D.I Stark. A man who will not allow any barriers to stop him from getting his result. A loyal, determined man who won’t mess about and if he needs to say or do something, it gets done and damn the consequences, unless he is after promotion, but then his wife can try to cock that up. I loved the relationship between him and his wife as well. I had a few giggles with them.

A girl is found murdered at Nottingham Goose Fair and Stark and the team are on the case. We are swept along in the enquiry with the team and there are a number of suspects in the frame but the tension and drama rachet up a notch at a time and the team are in a race against time and Stark is willing to solve this case by any means necessary, even if he gets himself in the firing line doing it.

Keith’s experience as a CID Detective Sergeant within the same force he now writes about shines through. The brutal descriptions can be a bit too much if you are a bit squeamish, I thought they brought more authenticity to the book myself. Excellent storyline and great characters made it a quick read for me, I really needed to know how it was going to pan out! I am so glad that Sarah Hardy from Books On The Bright Side Publicity asked if I would like to join Keiths Blog Tour. I would have missed a fabulous book series.
