Michael K. Foster

Hackney Central by Michael K. Foster is a novella and is the prequel to ‘The Wharf Butcher’ series featuring Detective Chief Inspector Jack Mason.

Michael K. Foster

In Hackney Central, Jack Mason is a lowly Detective Sergeant and we get to see how he becomes the D.C.I we recognise and love from initial stories. So here he, is a newly appointed D.S to Hackney Central. He is still finding his feet when he has a new case, an old man found dead at home and it has been ransacked of everything and absolutely no one will open their mouths to give information. He realises with all the rival gangs in the immediate area this is going to be a tough one to crack! He is torn in two directions, his work and his promise to himself that he will spend less time doing overtime to spend time with his family. How that will work out for him, I’m not sure!

I thoroughly enjoyed going back to the beginning with Mason and getting a snapshot of ‘the man’ earlier in his life and career and I was through this book in no time. Michael. K.Foster has a knack of bringing his characters alive with his realistic writing and scenes, it is easy to see these things happen today as Gangs are rife still now in large parts of the country.

A massive thank you to BOTBS Publicity for asking me to be a stop on this great Blog Tour.
