Mexico Street, written by Simone Buchholz and perfectly translated by Rachel Ward, is the third book in the series about public prosecutor Chastity Riley and set in Hamburg. I have not read any of these books, but when Anne Cater offered me a place on the Orenda Books Mexico Street blog tour I could not resist, as the ‘Blurb’ had me! It is easily read as a standalone, I found.

The story opens with cars being set on fire all over Hamburg, for seemingly no reason, until one car is discovered with a man’s body inside, only, it isn’t just any man… he turns out to be a part of the Bremen clan. Now Chastity has a murder case on her hands!
Together with Stepanovic they leave no stone unturned and find the investigation leads all the way through Germany and back again. They discover a star crossed romance of two immigrants who feel they can escape away together… they discover the struggles of their lives in the underbelly of society, of the gangs and the women of the same society.
I thought this book was really well written. Dark, emotional and gritty, showing a side to a country no one ever wants to admit exists. Chastity is a exceptional character and I liked the fact we find out more about her throughout and it gave her depth due to this.
I will be going and looking for the first two book now, feel like I need to know more!!
A great big “Thank you” to Anne Cater and Orendo Books for the opportunity to be a part of this awesome blog tour!
