C.B. Cox – Not Mine To Take

A debut psychological thriller that had me hooked from the start! Hope Madison has finally left her husband Charles, for good! He thinks he has everything which, if you want money, looks and charm, he has, but he lacks loyalty.

C.B. Cox

Hope is a successful writer and while being in a rented condo, she decided to go in a different direction with her writing. Her agent ends up having to tell her that her latest work is no good! Hope knows she needs to sort herself out and write something good or her contract with her publisher is gone. She makes the decision to take herself and her dog, Bella, off to Tern Island, a gorgeous place complete with a beautiful custom-built house that was a wedding gift from Charles. Pure isolation, peace and quiet is all she needs to get herself back on form. Hope finds it the very tonic she needs and makes good on her writing. Just a few niggles like Charles ringing her when she feels it isn’t needed. Then things start unsettling her. Little things are disappearing, stuff starts to go wrong. Hope begins to feel paranoid as she feels some people on the mainland act strangely towards her, she feels like she is being watched. Is it paranoia or could it be Charles trying to send her crazy? Or could it be something or someone else?

A great book. The tension builds throughout the book and leads you down every twisty road possible. The authors writing made Hope come alive in my mind and I was with her every step of her way! 5 Stars for me, Will be looking for the next books to come in the future for sure!
