Rosemary Goodacre – Until The War Is Over

Until The War Is Over is a Family Saga set during the First World War. It is actually a continuation of the saga, I have only read this one myself and enough of the back story is included in this book to get a grip upon this book. I did become enveloped in the time of the first world war when reading this.

The main characters are Amy and Edmund, who are really trying to carry on living a normal domesticated life while still worrying about the War. Edmund is suffering from a war injury and still hasn’t recovered, while Amy has a new baby to care for.
The pressure of living at her In-Laws as well as juggling a baby, Edmund and attempting to aid the Ear effort too, has Amy on the edge and under so much stress, the strain on the couple is apparent. This was also the time of the Spanish Influenza too so between all of this and war too brings some tragedies to the fore.

This is the type of book that envelops me with a warmth of times gone by and the richness of the history of the book is excellent for a history geek as I am! The emotions and problems of other families allow my mind to wallow in other’s sadness or joys for a small time.

With great thanks to Sarah Hardy of Books on The Bright Side Publicity and Hera Books for allowing me to join this Blog Tour for Until The War Is Over and finally to Rosemary Goodacre for writing this marvellous story of love, loss, war and family!
