The Divide by Stewart Giles is a horror story, which is quite a change from the usual for Stewart. I am lucky in that I love a wide genre of books and horror is one of them.

This book is set in Dartmoor and five teens have just done their A-Levels and decide that, before they make their singular ways in the world they will have a final group holiday together. You can almost see it “Famous Five Go To Dartmoor”…only this is way too scary for Enid Blyton! Dartmoor is essentially the place of mysteries and legends. The car they are travelling in breaks down on the moor, they can’t get a phone signal at all and as we discover their individual backgrounds they get more creeped out by the second.
They start talking to the locals of the area and discover the part of the moor they are in is known as “The Divide” which can’t be farmed or disturbed because of a powerful energy which lies buried beneath it. It is a gateway between two worlds – Heaven and Hell. Then builders turn up while the teenagers are there and begin digging. The energy and peace is interrupted and we find out just WHY it is “The Divide”!

I love Stephen King, Dean Koontz, writers of that calibre and Stewart has firmly planted himself with these hallowed authors with The Divide, I look forward to any future horror stories he will write with gusto. Thanks to Jill Burkinshaw for asking me to participate in Stewarts Blog Tour.
