‘Final Cut’ by S.J Watson is an atmospheric read that grabs you immediately. This is my first time reading anything by this author and it was worth it.

Alex, an award-winning filmmaker is tasked, in the most mysterious way, with going to Blackwood Bay, a coastal town where, thirty years ago, three young girls disappeared. Alex arrives and not everyone is happy she is there stirring things back up. She is determined to get to the bottom of the case of the missing girls but she soon realises whatever or whoever was doing this has not stopped, as another girl goes missing.

Alex is a character I found to be likeable and I admired her determination to get to the bottom of it all. As the story unfolds we find that Alex has her own secrets that make her reasoning for being there deeper than we first assume. Blackwood Bay is an oppressive place, once a bustling seaside town, now almost a ghost town and this increases the atmosphere and tension in the story as it evolves, creating an ending with shocking twists and turns. I enjoyed this story until the last page. Thanks go to Random Things Tours for the ARC
