Mike Grist – Saint Justice

‘Saint Justice’ by Mike Grist is the first book in a series about Christopher Wren, who was raised in a cult, escaped it at age 12 and as an adult CIA agent has his own cult, but with one major difference to the norm – his aim is the rehabilitation of potential offenders. His current aim in life is to track and destroy a cult dealing in human trafficking. Wren is as mysterious as they come, even his name is only assumed. His past is not a clear one and as he follows the cult we learn tidbits about his past as we go.

Mike Grist

A great spin on a hero that we don’t usually see in a thriller such as these. This one is as flawed as they come but it all adds to the tension and thrills of the story. A book that, if you are faint-hearted or squeamish in any way, will make you try to read with your eyes half-closed, for sure. I wasn’t sure what to expect with Saint Justice, I needn’t have worried, I began reading this and was gripped by it straight away. I found it quite clever in the subjects it tackles, cults and human trafficking are dirty words wherever you are in the world, taboo subjects, and not a comfortable read.

All in all, a gripping action-packed and clever story, I wonder what the next Wren instalment will bring.
