‘Summer’s End’ by Kristy Brown is a fantasy book aimed at young adults, but let me tell you, it had me hooked from the blurb! I do enjoy fantasy books, but I found this better than a lot I have read previously. It is written from the two main characters points of view, so we flip back and forth throughout the story.

Summer wakes up in a hospital with no memory of why she is there or the terrible events that have happened. All she knows is she wants to keep one scar to aid her in her search for what happened to her. She has a couple of friends that support her and tells her about her past but Summer feels that isn’t all that happened and is further resolved to find out. Then she meets Dooney, a young man with one mission, to destroy ‘The Light’. All the girls love him, but he seems only to be interested in Summer. For Summer’s part, she finds a strange magnetic like pull to him but also finds his eyes cold and scary. She starts to experience weird flashbacks and knows they have met previously and knows she has to find out how and when.
A skillfully crafted book, with forbidden love, intrigue, mystery and finally a mission to fulfil all weaved expertly into one hell of a story! The minute I began to read I knew I wanted to sweep Summer up and save her from what was looming on the horizon. I really understood why she needed to find out what had happened at why it drove her, such great character development made her real in my mind.

Kristy Brown certainly brought the mystery and intrigue early on in the book, I was already needing to know it all after only a few chapters! The best bit for me was thinking I knew where this book and the characters in it were going and then…I realised that not everyone is as they seem.
Brilliantly done! A truly engrossing book that had me from start to finish, if you enjoy a bit of the fantasy genre try this book, I wasn’t disappointed in any way. many thanks to Random Things Tours and Kristy Brown for my copy of the book so I could write this review today.
