Maria Frankland – Left Hanging

Left Hanging by Maria Frankland is my second book by this author and I must admit, I loved this one just as much as the first. A couple, that on the face of it, have everything. Each other, a set of beautiful twins, a gorgeous house, successful business, everything everyone ever wants in life. The old adage you never know what happens behind closed doors comes to mind for me with this book.

Maria Frankland

Ed and Kerry Huntington-Barnes are the couple with everything going for them. The biggest issue being is, Ed is living a complete lie. Kerry does nothing but irritate him. Even the fact that she is his wife and mother to their kids does not help when she attempts to rekindle their marriage She sees it as her fault, she drags herself down constantly in her own mind, all the while attempting to restart the passion.

A dead man is discovered in the hotel Kerry and Ed got married in. Russell Watson found dead in suspicious circumstances, a happily married man with a young daughter. It comes out that Russell was possibly meeting another man and his wife, Davina, is shell shocked as well as grieving.
When this secret is out it is the gossip of the area. Everybody buzzing to guess or discover the other man’s identity. Ed goes out of his head with the news of Russell’s death. He decides that he cannot live a lie anymore. He tells Kerry he is gay and has lived a lie for as long as they have been married. Kerry, well, she sees her life in tatters before her very eyes and is adamant Ed will not walk away scot-free, not on her watch! The gloves are off and we see them aiming for who can hurt the other the most. The worst thing for them is it is about to blow up in a big way, more than they could imagine.

An absolutely brilliant read, with a storyline that is a possibility for anyone at any time. The emotion of Kerry really hit me, her anger and bitterness scared me! I liked the twists to the story as well, added a bit more tension than you even expect.

Thank you to Random Things Tours and Maria Frankland for the copy of the book so I could take part today.
