‘The Same Ledge’ by Daniel James is a book that explores some of the worst things in life, social inequality, abuse, mental health, poverty and nature v nurture. I found it to be a very emotional read for me, coming from a similar type of area that the main characters come from it did hit home at times.

Cameron and Michael have both been brought up in a poor area of London and have both experienced similar things, from bullying to being abused in their home lives. Their normal daily life sees them thinking drug dealers are normal members of their communities and all the negative things that are connected with this kind of upbringing. The story shows us both the boys lives and as you can imagine none of them have an easy time. My heart went out to both these lads with the hopelessness of their lives.
As the book unfolds both boys travel on their paths separately and both boys still end up on the same ledge together at the end. A very deep and thought-provoking book about heavy subjects that bring no joy to life.

Daniel James has created a book that showcases the gritty, real and dark side of life and London too.
Thank you to Damp Pebbles Blog Tours and Daniel James for my copy of the book to write this review.
