‘Unbroken Truth’ By Lukas Lundh is a truly different book than I am used to a book that doesn’t altogether fit into any one genre. We have a thriller mixed with fantasy that also has the tag of steampunk.

The very vividly different world that this story is set in is a great example of fantastic world-building by the author. A city full of rust and xenophobia is where a homicide detective has to try to solve a high profile murder as her partner is wading into ancient history. They discover the paths they are both travelling may be closer than first thought as election day comes closer and tensions begin to be on the up.
A story that you end up fully enveloped in. I felt there were no half measures when reading it. You either get engrossed or it’s just not for you. I feel I am a lucky one, I can pick up almost any genre and dive in, losing myself in the book. All the different strands of the story sucked me into this place where the city is truly divided with the political parties who have all different ideas and xenophobia is everywhere. A dead body just about tops the pressure cooker feeling here. The good news for anyone, like me enjoying this deep and fascinating read, is that, with the way the story plays out we may be able to hope for a second book in the future. I personally would enjoy finding out what will happen next in this unique world I found myself in!

Thank you to Rachel’s Random Resources and Lukas Lundh for my copy of the book for my thoughts today.
