Christina O’Reilly – Into The Void

‘Into The Void’ by Christina O’Reilly is her debut crime thriller. It is a short story that packs a punch. Introducing DSS John (Archie) Baldrick, DC Ben Travers and their team. This is a skilfully crafted book with all the elements needed to keep the reader glued to the pages.

Banker Richard Harper is reported missing, it appears he has decided to run out on his pregnant girlfriend and desperately ill wife, Helena. He has been gone three days and both women are adamant he would not leave them. The only possible tiny lead are several abusive emails from a client. Alongside this Archie, is struggling at home with his family life, while Helena Harper’s home is becoming more of a draw to him. When a murder occurs evidence sends them into a race against time to discover where is Richard? And who is the murderer?

A great read with well-developed characters that draw you into the story. The author has managed to pack so much into this book and keep the story a fast-paced read with plenty of intrigue and suspense along the way. I would love to see a full-sized novel with Archie and the team at the helm. The introduction to the personal side to Archie makes the reader feel like we know him already and I particularly enjoyed this.

Thanks to Rachel’s Random Resources and Christina O’Reilly for the copy of the book for my review today.
