‘Fake’ by Roz Kay is a story full of dark humour that will have you chuckling again and again at the crazy characters and their actions. This is Roz Kay’s first adult novel and I feel it won’t be the last!

This story is told over the course of a few days and as the story develops so do James’s problems. He is bit of a wrong ‘un as we call them. A fraudster, cheat and a gambler- oh, and he confesses them all! An English man living in Philadelphia U.S.A and just being so stereotypically British (to the Americans that is!) An art dealer James has been caught stealing from the company and his boss has caught him and asks him to pay it back. He has a wife, Imani a nurse and a son, Cody. James’s boss has invited himself and Pumpkin his new wife to dinner at James’s. With all James’s gambling debts they have had to sell their home and move into rented accommodation…for them a step down in their lives…when their landlord decides to come to live with them!
This story just keeps giving! Whenever James attempts to get out of a situation he only succeeds in digging a bigger hole! A story that brings together a group of characters that are all so different and it is fun to see the interactions and what they are thinking.

All I can say is I enjoyed ‘Fake’ and if you like British humour and revel in reading about catastrophes, give this book a chance, it is worth every second.

Thanks to Damp Pebbles blog tours for my place on this tour and Roz Kay for the copy of ‘Fake’. Another great author discovered.
