‘Competing With The Star’ by Krysten Lindsay Hager is a Young Adult sweet romance book. I have read and reviewed a previous book by Krysten Lindsay Hager and I found that a sweet read, so I had an idea I would enjoy this too.

Hadley is living a charmed life having moved to a new area she has ended up making brilliant friends and she also has a boyfriend who is gorgeous and well, just amazing!! Everything is going perfect for them until the day comes Hadley is told Nick, her boyfriend once had a crush on one of her friends. Just that news is not good to hear, but when your friend is a teen tv star it’s not what you want to hear at all! Then the rumours begin, Nick was seen kissing Hadley’s friend…but who can she believe?

Aww, Hadley made a place in my heart straight away. She is not used to standing up for herself and when you are up against the typical teenage girls they can be horrible and some of the characters were just that. A very realistic story of teenagers and their issues, usually small ones but to them, they mean the world.

Krysten Lindsay Hager has not just brought a story of teenagers and their issues. We get to see Nicks grandad and his health issues and the relationship between him and Nick. I found this an emotional part of the book because I was close to my grandmother and could understand their relationship so well I was touched.

All in all a realistic and sensitively written story of what teenagers find important and we see the petty things that affect them and the deeper issues that bring development to their lives. An easy read that I got through in a day.
