Evie Hunter – Dirty Business

Thanks, go to Rachel’s Random Resources and Boldwood Books for the gifted ebook to write my honest review for the tour.

High stakes, killer secrets…

Frenchurch Falls is a playground of indulgence for the rich and famous. But behind its gleaming facade, lie dark and dangerous secrets. And some of them will prove deadly…

When Callie Renfrew’s husband, Gavin, vanishes, she isn’t entirely surprised. As the owner of Frenchurch Falls, Callie has always known Gavin had a knack for skirting the law. But what she uncovers about his dealings will drag her into a web of danger.

Gavin’s disappearance threatens more than Callie’s business—it also threatens the lives of her oldest friends, Angela Dalton and Dawn Frobisher, each tied to the spa in their own way. Drawn into the chaos, together, they must uncover the truth: Is Gavin alive, or has someone already exacted vengeance?

With mounting debts, ruthless enemies circling, and a crumbling control, Callie must rely on Angela and Dawn like never before. But trust comes at a price, and in a world this deadly, misplaced faith could cost Callie everything— even her life.

A brand new gangland series perfect for fans of Kerry Kaya, Gillian Godden and Edie Baylis.

Evie Hunter has such a skill in writing her gangland thrillers. I always look forward to her books. Dirty Business is the first in a brand new series, so to say I was eager to read it was an understatement!

We meet Callie, a woman who runs a spa that her husband, Gavin launders, money through. When Gavin and her best friend’s husband go missing, the women are left to get to the bottom of everything. Will they be able to find them? Will Callie be able to stand strong while being pressured to sell her spa?

Strong characters make this a page turning read. I enjoyed getting to know Callie and Angie, her best friend. As always, the author has written an easily believable story. I got so immersed as the plot unfolded. There are characters you just can’t help but get behind, and then the less likeable ones, too. All developed well and realistic enough to be able to picture them.

I reached the end way too quickly. That may have been something to do with not being able to put the Kindle down, though! I am looking forward to the next book to see what life has in store for Callie!
