Thanks to DLM Tours for my invitation to the tour and Suzanne Stephenson for the gifted ebook

Forty years ago, Mike Johnson was a law student but was also recruited by the security services to report on people where he lodged in a house in North London.

There he met the seductive Katalin and the mysterious grey fellow.

Now on the approach to the anniversary of PM Harold Wilson’s resignation, will the past come back to haunt him?

  My Review

Suzanne Stephenson is an author whose children’s books I have read. Room Four is a cold war thriller that had me intrigued from the start!

A novella, so a quick read for me, but one that Suzanne has managed to write so well, that i didn’t want it to end.

Set in 1970s London, we are introduced to Mike. He has gone to London to study law and is recruited to report on people where he lodged. He doesn’t have any idea of the whys or wherefores but he does what he is asked. Will these actions bring any repercussions?

For not a lot of pages this is an atmospheric and tense read. The author sets the scenes perfectly. The tensions of the ‘Cold War’ era are very present throughout. I was with Mike all the way. I felt like I could be there! I whizzed through this story so fast and loved the note at the end! Yes I was wondering if it was fact!!

This book proves to me that Suzanne Stephenson, isn’t just a children’s author but she is a damn fine adult fiction author also! I look forward to a full-length book next!

Author Bio

Living in the English countryside I already had a couple of careers before I became an author. Having been a Family Lawyer and Family Mediator I became a District Judge in the year 2000 and officially retired from judging in early 2021.Sitting on complex family cases did not leave me much time for my interests of writing and sketching but when I had free-time I tried to visit interesting places .I hope my ancestors helped provide some inspiration as well. My father was a Holocaust survivor and my maternal grandfather a gynaecologist and composer. The people and countryside of Eastern England also are embedded in my psyche .
