I am a fan of A. M. Shine’s work. I have read his previous books and when I saw the cover of Grace, I had to read it! I knew it would tick all my boxes so expected good things. I was thankfully right!
He has smashed it out of the park again with his blending of folklore and gothic horror. We meet Grace,a woman born on an island where no other child has been born for over thirty years. An island which no one will set foot on, not even the delivery boat crew. She has no knowledge of this though. So, when she is called back to the place she was born after her estranged mother dies…she goes.
An expertly written story that teems with atmosphere, mystery and tension. The characters are rich and vivid, which gave me a reason to become heavily invested. The amount of secrets being kept had me turning the pages until I had none left to turn!
This is another page turner with class! Fast-paced storytelling that leaves you chilled to the bone! I am looking forward to A.M Shine’s next book!
