My Review
I found Under Vixens Mere to be a unique and refreshing novel. A story of a houseboat community and the secrets they keep to themselves. Told in a way that kept me riveted to the book. I couldn’t help but keep the pages turning!
Kit Fielding brings this community to life in such a vivid way. Each of the characters is well-created and brought to life on the page. We learn of their secrets as the story unfolds and we see how the dramatic events that happen affect their lives.
From the prologue to the final page there was nothing I didn’t like about this book. Harry Jones’s story is the catalyst for the events which the reader bears witness to. It’s a poignant one, that I still think about long after I finished the book.
The boat community made this book so interesting. It’s not something I understand, or know much about. I really appreciated the eclectic characters and the way they will do anything for each other. Just a delicious read all round!

Kit Fielding plans and writes his novels in a motorhome at various locations around the country.
The feeling of impermanence is natural to him due to his mother’s traveller roots and a childhood succession of tied-cottages accommodation in different parts of England.
Kit Fielding says that there was always a curiosity about what was waiting, or was lurking, just around the corner. This legacy has stayed with him to the present day and it feeds into his work.
