Beamer Street is a community bound by grit, secrets, and ever-shifting loyalties.
Liverpool 1935
Ambitious event planner Daisy Haywood is torn between a safe and steady engagement to Harvey Harris and her lingering love for Max Galant, the adventurous journalist who left her to pursue this career overseas. Daisy must decide if love is a luxury she can afford or the only thing worth fighting for.
Reckless Bridie Haywood returns from London under a cloud of mystery; her plight worsens when her movie star good looks attract the attention of notorious Beamer’s factory boss Henry Beamer who is only after one thing. But Henry has secrets, dangerous secrets, which if exposed could see him hang. Does Bridie have a clear conscious or will she have to leave Beamer Street once more.
The binding threads of personal conflicts – love, betrayal and identity – need to be challenged as rumours of war gather pace.
The next thrilling instalment in Sheila Riley’s Beamer Street series perfect for the fans of Rosie Clarke and Lizzie Lane.

As always, Sheila Riley has written another amazing chapter in the Beamer Street series. This is the fourth book, and every time I return to this series, I feel like I am returning to friends.
Set in Liverpool in the 1930s, the community of Beamer Street is going through challenging times. Daisy has a decision to make, and it’s an important one. When it comes to issues of the heart, it is never easy! Bridie has returned from London and attracts the attention of Harvey Beamer. He has his own secrets, and they aren’t small ones! How will this play out for Bridie? Will she be able to stay in Beamer Street, or will she leave again?
Daisy and Bridie are such well-created characters. This, along with vivid settings, is key to a great historical saga. Sheila Riley must have done so much research. She brings the story to life so well. I am always transported back in time by her books. Her storytelling makes for an immersive read.
The community is a strong one on Beamer Street, and emotions run high in this book – mine too, as I read! I felt like they could be pouring out of the pages. That is how it goes; when you feel like they are real, it affects the reader. That is the sign of a good author! I didn’t want to leave Beamer Street but had no choice when I got to the last page. I am so looking forward to being able to return soon!.
