My Review
Who wouldn’t want to read Sharon Bolton’s latest thriller, The Token? Well, I definitely did! She is a master storyteller, so I expected a high standard before I even picked the book up! The cover and blurb had already grabbed me. I was looking forward to a fabulous read!
Seven people receive an utterly mystifying envelope through the post. Each one contains a token and information. They are told they will all receive a share of the billionaire Logan Quick’s fortune when he dies. None of them 100% believes it could be true. We are introduced to each character as they attempt to discover why them . Even as they meet each other and continue to try to solve their mystery, they have no clue. This ends with them all going on a boat trip to the Scilly Isles that soon turns into more than they bargained for.
Told from past and present day, this is a psychological thriller that is very character-driven, but boy! Do they drive it? As the plot unfolds, the tension and atmosphere build to the point that I wouldn’t leave this book alone! Not until I had all the answers to the questions swirling around in my head!
Seven ordinary people, each with the possibility of inheriting a lot of money. This is such a brilliant study of human nature. It’s a perfect example of how this author can keep readers spellbound by her books. I was turning the pages so fast; I loved how it all played out!
The conclusion was a twisty one, and paired with the twists in the tale, it finished off a fabulous story! I would definitely recommend The Token to any thriller lover.
