Yet another standalone psychological thriller from the mind of J.D Kirk! Before I go any further, I have to say, this author never fails to write a superb story. Be it his series or a standalone, I can never get enough of this author’s writing.
I knew that this was going to be a fabulous read, so I made sure I didn’t have any adulting to do for at least a day or two! After that was guaranteed, I started reading. It is a good job I did, because I wouldn’t leave the book for more than 5 minutes. It’s definitely addictive and a fast-paced gripping read.
Diane finds herself with a new neighbour, Chloe, who has moved into the basement flat. They soon become friends and give each other their phone numbers. Diane gets a call from Chloe, who needs her help. Obviously, Diane is quick to help,she goes down to Chloe’s flat. The events play out, and Diane finds her nice,quiet life suddenly tipped on its head. Is it all down to Chloe? Or is there something else going on?
Each chapter ends in a way that made me want to keep reading. That is the beauty of this kind of psychological thriller, for me anyway! I love a story that keeps you immersed, that you think just one more chapter.
Told by both Diane and Chloe, with their pasts slowly coming to light as the plot unfolded. I wanted to know everything and NOW! J.D Kirk is one of those authors who hold you in the palm of their hand and keep you engossed. The trademark dark humour is still there and makes this even more fabulous!
Twisted and dark, this is a book that does deal with sensitive subjects, but it is not in a gratuitous way. It highlights mental health and everything that spirals from that. A psychological thriller I happily recommend!
