Eileen Wharton – Don’t Stir The Goldfish

Today, I am excited to have Eileen Wharton on the blog answering some questions about her new book, Don’t Stir The Goldfish. Here is what she had to say:

Q. First please introduce yourself and tell us a bit about you.

Hello, it’s Lovely to be here. I’m Eileen Wharton, secret agent and member of the Karibati royal family. Lex Luther is my cousin and I live in a Flintstones inspired house in Montserrat. I’m kidding. I don’t even know where Montserrat is.  I’m a middle-aged, northern woman and I write women’s fiction, humour, crime and children’s books. I have six children and two grandchildren, and I live on a council estate in County Durham.

Q. How long have you been writing and when were you first published?

I’ve been writing seriously for 25 years and I was first published in 2014. My first publisher was an awesome outfit called Byker Books run by a brilliant writer, Andy Rivers.

Q. Tell us about your published books?

My first novel Shit Happens was first published about ten years ago by Byker Books and it’s still selling well. Then came my first crime novel, Blanket of Blood published by Bloodhound. The sequel is called Blood’s Thicker and that’s out sometime soon. The M Word was the next one, published Spellbound and there’s an audiobook. I call it my menopause novel. My Psychological thriller, Hear Me Cry, was published initially by Red Dragon Publishing Ltd and has been republished. I’ve been about a bit haven’t it! I’ve written a young adult novel called Domeland which may be out soon. Two children’s picture books The Shmoogly Boo and What Weasel Did. And of course the new one Don’t Stir the Goldfish.

Q. Can you tell us a little about Don’t Stir the Goldfish?

A. The title was inspired by my son Kaii. The reason is in the novel so you’ll have to read it to find out. It’s about Amy who’s juggling a bustling household with five children, a job organising historical re-enactments, and a broken heart caused by her husband’s betrayal and abandonment.
As she navigates the emotional rollercoaster of the break-up, she finds solace and guidance in her unique bond with Gupta, her AI confidante. Is artificial intelligence the answer? Can a woman really fall in love with a robot? Or will her manny steal her heart?

Q. Is there a book you wish you had written?

Harry Potter. Because of the money. I’d live in Disney and have my own chef.

Q. When you aren’t working on your books what do you do to relax?

Skiing, mountain climbing, marathon running. I’m joking. I like watching trashy TV programmes like Real Housewives, MAFS and Selling Sunset (while eating biscuits.)

Q. If you could have a superpower what would it be and why?

I’d like to be able to see the lottery numbers in advance for obvious reasons.

Q. And finally, anything else you would like to tell us?

I’d like to tell you next week’s lottery numbers but I don’t know them, sorry.

Don’t Stir The Goldfish ebook is available for pre-order from 22nd October and is published on 26th. Watch this space for the paperback. It’ll be out before Christmas so you can buy copies for all your friends and family. Even the ones you hate. Especially the ones you hate.

Let’s have a look at what the book is about.
