My Review
A psychological thriller by an author whose books I already enjoy reading. Whatever it Takes was a no-brainer straight away. I had to read it! The cover is one that catches the eye straight away. The blurb teases the reader and definitely draws you in.
We are introduced to Lorna and Dan, a successful couple who have a happy marriage. Lorna loves spending the money, and Dan is happy not to. Everything runs smoothly for them in life, and their new neighbours are turning into good enough friends to holiday with. That is, until they go on holiday…
A story that seems glossy and light, then the dark, twisted undertones start rippling their way up to the surface. Joy has done an amazing job writing this thriller. Her detailed characters came to life in my mind. The beautiful holiday on Greece begins to become something more than that, and the darkness begins to creep in. I was hooked. The foreboding and tension kept those pages turning. I couldn’t look away for a minute.
As the cracks begin to form as the story unfolds, I couldn’t help but wonder who was the spider and who was the fly in it all. A fatal accident shatters the perfection, and the facade falls. I was secind guessing everyone, constantly. The twists are so clever that I didn’t know what to expect. This is my type of book. Joy Wood has only further cemented her place in my mind!
It’s one of those stories that even after you have finishe, you are still thinking about it and how you think you know someone until you don’t!

Joy Wood has worked as a nurse most of her adult life and turned to writing six years ago to ‘see if
she could.’ Her earlier work was adult romance and intrigue, but more recently she has switched genres to romance with a crime element.
