Thanks to Rachel’s Random Resources and Boldwood Books for the gifted ebook to write my honest review for the book tour.

The higher you climb, the harder the fall.
I would never have been hired if they knew what I’d done. My past.
St Ann’s is a strict environment, and after one year in the coveted position of head teacher, I know I can’t put a foot wrong.
Some don’t think I deserve this. Others are desperate for the job themselves.
And one of those people wants to bring me down.
Whoever this person is, they know things about me. Secrets I’ve barely told anybody.
And I’m scared what they might uncover if they delve a little deeper.
And what they might do to me – and my family – if I don’t get to them first…
A taut edge-of-your-seat psychological thriller, from bestselling author H. M. Lynn. Perfect for fans of Frieda McFadden, Lisa Jewell and Claire Douglas.

I haven’t read a book by this author before, so I didn’t know what to expect. The cover and blurb sounded great, so I hoped it was a thriller for me. I’m happy to say it was more than I expected. Fast-paced, tense, and riveting! That’s how I describe The Headteacher. I felt like I was on the edge of my seat for the majority of the story.
Liz is a headteacher at St Ann’s Catholic school. She doesn’t have enough support from staff in the school and is determined to get her staff onside. She walks into assembly and there for all the school to see are pictures of her, from the past. Not only that, but even she hasn’t seen these pictures before. Liz begins to have her suspicions of who it may be. Before she knows it, her daughter is getting dragged into this hate campaign. As things go quickly downhill for Liz, it begs the question who hates her this much and why?
I felt for Liz! She isn’t perfect, but she worked damn hard for her position. I liked how she had the grit and determination to keep going, even when she had no one she thought she could trust. The scariest bit of this story is that this could happen to anyone in this day and age. The technology is there, and it makes it so easy to hide behind smoke and mirrors. It gave me food for thought.
The tension is there, right away. And it builds to a point that I really could not stop reading. The twists and turns kept me hooked from start to finish. I couldn’t help guessing, and of course, I was wrong, but that’s the absolute fun of a great psychological thriller.
