Thanks to Rachel’s Random Resources and Boldwood Books for the gifted ebook to write my honest review for the book tour.

A bond that even time cannot break
Storm Berger has never forgiven himself for his younger sister Madison’s disappearance. Suspecting she’s travelled back to the ninth century in the footsteps of other family members, Storm can only make sure she’s safe by going after her.
Raised unconventionally as her father’s only child, Freydis has never been content to simply accept her fate. So, when she’s promised in marriage to a tyrant, she’s determined to find a way out of the arrangement. Help comes in the form of a mysterious and attractive stranger stranded on her island’s shores: Storm.
The only way Freydis can truly be free is for Storm to marry her himself. But that would mean entwining lives that, until now, have been separated by centuries. . .
My Review
Christina Courtenay is an author whose books I love reading. Legacy of the Runes is the final book in the Runes series. I have read the majority of these books and was very pleased when this book came out.
Every time I read any of this series, I find myself swept into times past. The vivid and detailed way this author writes never fails to immerse me. This particular instalment takes the reader on Storm’s journey. He has his suspicions that his sister has travelled back in time to the 9th century. This is because several family members have done this in the past. He finds his chance to check on her and takes it. He doesn’t realise that this journey will impact his life much more than he ever imagined.
I was gutted to finish this novel! This historical timeslip series is one of my all-time favourites. Not only is it a captivating read, but Christina Courtenay’s passion for the Viking era shines through in every single book. I always say I love to be educated and entertained. This series does that every single time!
The characters are so well created, and I love that we get to see glimpses of past characters throughout. I find I’m so invested in them all that it’s rather like catching up with family! I am going to miss this series rather badly and may have to reread them just to savour the magic of the series again.
The authenticity of the storytelling always makes me think of the research that has gone into each book. Emotional, authentic, and oh, so addictive! The Rune Series will be so missed!
