Thanks to Donna Morfett and Jane McParkes for my gifted copy of Deadly Treasures to bring you my honest review for the book tour today.

It’s midsummer in Penbartha and the opening night for eco-architect Olivia Wells’ latest project – a Georgian coastal eco-boutique hotel with fascinating links to the famous plant-hunters of Cornwall.
Jago Trevithick KC has been busy in London with the complicated and lengthy trial of an underworld criminal. After a disastrous result, he returns to Penbartha to be with Olivia, seeking refuge and peace and to reassess his life choices.
The morning after the long-awaited and eventful launch party Jago and Olivia discover a dead body and he immediately fears that his troubles in London have followed him home.
As their professional lives collide, will Olivia and Jago be able to work together again to uncover the dark forces that are threatening the success of her latest venture, or are Jago’s troubles more personal than he thought?
Sleuthing, suspense and sustainability abound in this cosy mystery set on the beautiful Cornish coast.
My Review
I will start my review just letting you all know that I haven’t read the first book in this series. I just dived into Deadly Treasures without actually realising there was one before. This is not something I tend to do. I usually prefer to read in order. Saying all that, I had absolutely no issues reading it.
Set in one of my favourite places, Cornwall. I was immediately immersed, I dont think there is a prettier place to visit. The characters, Olivia and Jago, are both well developed and interesting, to say the least. Olivia is an eco-architect, which intrigued me right away. Jago is Olivia’s partner and a barrister in London. After the launch party of her latest restoration project, the body of a waitress is discovered in the swimming pool. Olivia finds herself attempting to unravel the mystery.
Jane McParkes has created some fabulous characters in this cosy mystery. I could really understand why Olivia was worried about everyone around her. This is a community that shows how close everyone is. I was almost jealous at a point. The area is gorgeous, and the people are ones we all wish we knew. It made me feel like I was with them. It was so engrossed!
I now need to go back and read book one, just for my own satisfaction. It’s a cosy mystery that feels like it’s almost hugging you as you read, and I”m happy to have been introduced to it!
