At this time of the year, there is nothing better than a spooky read. This Gothic Romance reeled me in and kept me reading until way past my bedtime.
I do enjoy discovering new authors and D. Lieber is exactly that. New to me anyway. I have to mention the cover! How good is the cover to this book! It made me want to own a physical copy, I liked it so much. The blurb itself caught my interest, too. I was so curious to read this story with the promise of romance, mystery, and even curses mentioned. I mean, what’s not to like?
Atmospheric stories are the best, and D. Lieber brought that in spades! The manor itself just oozed eerie, which I felt it was a perfect setting for the supernatural events happening within the story. The characters are well fleshed out with Wren, our main character moving into the living quarters of the manor. She gets to hear about a ghost story and the history of the family who once lived there. This has her searching for answers about the mystery surrounding her new home.
As the plot unfolds, the suspense racks up, and the layers of the writing make for an entertaining read. I was with Wren, and every time I thought I had the answers, I was wrong. L. Lieber certainly weaves a story well. I enjoyed every page and will be on the lookout for more of this authors books.
