Welcome back, everyone! Today’s review is for Burnt Island by Kate Rhodes as part of the #TeamDaniels book tour. The third book in the Isles Of Scilly Mysteries. Thanks again, go to Tracy Fenton of Compulsive Readers Book Tours, Simon & Schuster, and NetGalley for the gifted ebook to write my honest review.

INTRUDERS HERE ARE BOUND TO DIE . . .
As the sun sets on a cold November evening, the tiny community of St Agnes prepares for their annual Fifth-of-November festivities. Moments before the fireworks are scheduled to commence, an islander discovers a charred body left on the bonfire, and quickly it becomes clear that a killer is at large.
Ben Kitto is the Deputy Chief of Police for the Scilly Isles, and with a killer on the loose, he has no choice but to forbid all residents from leaving the island. With a population of just eighty people, everyone is a suspect and no one is safe.
When threats start appearing, written in the old Cornish language, Ben suspects that the killer’s motive is to rid the island of the newcomers who threaten their traditions. With time running out, Ben hurries to discover the secrets of the island’s peculiar residents, but he knows it’s only a matter of time before another fire is started . . .
No place to run.
No place to hide.
This is a series that I am reading right from the first to the last book. Burnt Island is the third instalment, and I couldn’t help but be happy to have the opportunity to read it.
I am so pleased I am able to read this series as I am doing. The continuity just totally immerses me in Ben Kitto’s world on the Scilly Isles. I will say you can read them as standalones also. Each book is written so no reader will be lost. I always prefer to read in order for myself, that is all.
Kate Rhodes’s character development is very apparent throughout the series. It meant I am getting so invested in the area and in Ben Kitto, too. Just small details like how Shadow, his adopted dog, is becoming more important to him as time goes by.
St Agnes is the main setting in Burnt Island, and Ben finds himself on an investigation to try to weed out a sadistic killer. All the characters that have featured in the series are here. DCI Madron, his boss, his sergeant Eddie and Zoe too. Each and every one unique, with their own voice within the story.
Again, it is a complex and riveting storyline. Perfectly paced with red herrings and twists that had me guessing the identity of the killer constantly! I am very pleased (to say the least), that I have book four, and it’s next on my list! It’s an amazing and superbly written crime thriller series I would always recommend.
