Today, I’m on the book tour for The Silent Man by David Fennell. Thanks to Tracy Fenton of Compulsive Readers for the invitation and the publisher for my review copy.
WHATEVER YOU DO, DON’T MAKE A SOUND . . .
The stunning new crime thriller from one of British crime writing’s brightest talents, and one of the twistiest, most gripping and emotional reads of the year.
A father is murdered in the dead of night in his London home, his head wrapped tightly in tape, a crude sad face penned over his facial features. But the victim’s only child is left alive and unharmed at the scene.
Met Police detectives Grace Archer and Harry Quinn have more immediate concerns. Notorious gangster Frankie White has placed a target on Archer’s back, and there’s no one he won’t harm to get to her.
Then a second family is murdered, leaving young Uma Whitmore as the only survivor.
With a serial killer at large, DI Archer and DS Quinn must stay alive long enough to find the connection between these seemingly random victims. Can they do it before another child is orphaned?
The Silent Man is published by Zaffre and came out on 31st August 2023.

The third book in the DI Grace Archer series and the second one I have read. I will say it reads easily as a standalone and only my OCD of reading a series in order matters here.
The Silent Man is a crime thriller that grabs you immediately and doesnt let you go until the final word! DI Archer has her work cut out for her in this tense and twisty book. Told from various perspectives so it gives the reader a rounded view of whats happening as the plot unfolds.
I was stuck to this book like glue. The way the suspense ramps up, from threats against Archer to the unusual murder of Jason Todd. Right from the start The Silent Man took me on what felt like a rollercoaster ride. Returning to the characters made it feel like I was back with old friends. All created so well that I had my heart in my mouth at several moments for fear of their safety!!
It is, as I always find with books written by David Fennell, well-written and so well plotted! If you want a crime thriller that keeps on giving the tension, suspense, and oh, so many twists, this is it! I can’t recommend this series highly enough.
