Evie Hunter – The Alibi

I’m over the moon to be able to post my review for The Alibi by Evie Hunter. Thanks to Rachel’s Random Resources and Boldwood Books for the gifted ebook in order to write my unbiased review.

Don’t get mad…get even!

Leona Carson thought Scott Jessop was a decent man…she was wrong.
When she discovers Scott has been lying to her, she knows it’s time to call it quits on their relationship.
But Scott doesn’t take kindly to being rejected by Leona and begins a campaign to ruin her life just like he
has done to many other women…
Determined to stop Scott and get her life back, Leona asks the police for help, but Scott always has an alibi
– someone ready to take the blame.
Tired of Scott’s lies, Leona tracks down his latest alibi, Hugo Rossiter. But rather than find another ready
excuse, she meets a man who is also sick of Scott’s actions.
And together, they are determined to make him pay for his actions once and for all…

Evie Hunter is an author whose books I always enjoy. I saw The Alibi was coming out and just knew I wanted to read it. I could not wait to be able to settle down and start reading.

Again, this author has written a book that grabs you immediately. I read this so fast! She is always guaranteed to bring an addictive story. This is exactly that. We meet Leona, who has just found out Scott isn’t planning to leave his wife like he said he was. This causes her to turn him down, but Steve doesn’t like rejection, and the worst thing is, he is also her boss.

He starts a serious revenge plot against her, which isn’t just confined to badmouthing her everywhere he can. He makes it so personal that she attempts to go to the police for help. They aren’t any help as Steve has an alibi, meaning the police can’t help. Leona plays smart and finds an ally. Will they be able to get even? Or will Scott be too clever for them.

Leona is a woman after my own heart! A character that is strong enough not to let a man get away with such nasty acts. Her determination had me cheering her on all the way. Every character was unique, and not all of them were likeable. Scott, I could easily have slapped! Evie Hunter has created a hateful man, and it was great to hate on him alongside Leona. The way he treated his wife, too! I won’t say anything else about the plot. Just read the book!

A revenge thriller that was over too soon. I enjoyed every single twist and turn, as Leoni and Hugo attempted to get their own back. Every chapter I read, I said to myself,’Just one more chapter’. Until I realised I was lying to myself, and I wasn’t putting The Alibi down until I found out what was going to happen.

The Alibi is an entertaining tale that ticked all the boxes for me. I am so happy I found Evie Hunter’s books! I love my hobby!
