I’m part of the blog tour for Evil At Alardyce House by Heather Atkinson. Thanks to Rachel’s Random Resources and Boldwood Books for the gifted ebook to join the tour.

The history of the Alardyce family is fraught with scandal and intrigue.
But after her eldest son Robert leaves the country, finally Amy Alardyce can enjoy some peace. Robert is wanted by the police for some unspeakable crimes, and his family hope he has run far enough and never looks back.
A decade after his disappearance, Robert has forged a successful life for himself, making his fortune from the diamond and gold mines of Africa. But when he sees a death notice in the newspaper, the call to go home to Scotland grows ever louder.
At Alardyce House, there are big changes too, and the fragile peace the family have enjoyed for so long is feeling more fragile than ever. And as the past comes back to haunt Amy and her children, will she have to finally accept that the curse of the Alardcye family can never be outrun…

Heather Atkinson is back! As soon as I saw Evil At Alardyce House was out, I just had to read it. I have read the others so knew exactly how good it would be. I also knew i had to make sure I could read without interruptions, as it would be one I couldn’t put down. Heather Atkinson does this to me.
This book begins twelve years after the previous book ends. It sees Robert Alardyce discovering his stepfather has died and returning home from South Africa, where he ran to avoid the police. His mother, Amy, welcomes him back with open arms. His wife, on the other hand, just wants a divorce. Robert makes it his mission to repress his darker side and hopefully be reunited with his family.
It is a dark, gothic historical mystery that certainly lives up to the description. As every single book in the series does. The characters are so well developed that when Robert returns home, we see a totally different facet of his personality. I expected his cruelty and the evilness he has displayed in every other book. Instead, he is completely different. I didn’t one hundred percent trust this. I thought it could be an act but waited to see how the story played out.
Heather Atkinson has written this series so well. Evil At Alardyce House is no different. I was hooked. The pages couldn’t have been turned quicker if I tried! The pace was perfect, and she weaves every strand of the plot together so skilfully. I enjoyed every bit of this book and series! It’s one to try if you like your books on the chilling and darker side of life.
